Common Problems & Fixes
General troubleshooting that applies across self-balancing hoverboards, including the X-Glide.
Board won't turn on
Confirm it actually has charge and check for a charging light. Let it charge at least 30 minutes and try again. Check the power button and port for damage. If it still won't power on, the battery or control board likely needs professional attention.
Blinking or flashing lights
Patterns vary by manufacturer, so check the manual for your exact code. As a rule of thumb: a single steady blink usually means low battery, rapid blinking often points to a calibration or sensor error, and alternating colors can signal a more serious fault.
Won't balance or leans to one side
Almost always a calibration issue. Power off, hold the power button until the LED blinks to enter calibration mode, then place it on a flat, level surface and don't touch it until it beeps. If leaning continues, check both wheels for debris.
Won't charge or charges slowly
Use the original charger — mismatched chargers are a common cause of charging failures. Check the cable and port for damage, and try a different outlet. If the charge light never turns green, the battery may be degrading.
Battery drains unusually fast
Cold weather temporarily reduces range and is normal. Batteries also lose capacity naturally after 18–24 months of regular use. Frequent full discharges speed up degradation, so try to recharge before dropping below 15%.
One wheel feels weak or unresponsive
Recalibrate first, since this is often a sensor issue rather than a motor issue. Check for debris around the wheel housing and listen for grinding, which can indicate worn bearings. If it persists, the motor or wiring may need a professional look.
Grinding, clicking, or squeaking noises
Grinding usually means worn wheel bearings or debris inside the housing. Squeaking is often just dust buildup and can sometimes be cleared with a careful cleaning around the wheels.
Bluetooth speaker or app won't connect
Make sure the board is powered on before pairing. Forget the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings and re-pair from scratch, keep your phone close by, and check for an app update.
Board beeps repeatedly while riding
This is usually a built-in safety warning, not a malfunction — commonly triggered by low battery, exceeding the weight limit, or too steep an incline. Slow down and dismount carefully.
Overheating during use or charging
Mild warmth is normal. Stop immediately if it's hot to the touch (not just warm), you notice a burning smell, or the battery casing looks swollen.
When should I see a professional?
Stop using the board if you notice a swollen or leaking battery, a persistent burning smell, exposed wiring, a cracked casing, or it won't hold calibration after repeated attempts. Never open the battery compartment yourself — damaged lithium-ion batteries can be a fire risk.

- Confirm UL 2272 certification directly on the product listing
- Check the max weight capacity against your own weight, with a buffer
- Look for the actual battery watt-hours, not just advertised range
- Check warranty length — aim for one year or more
